Hi Christian, we cannot really comment on other services such as cookiebot. In our opinion, a cookie can be considered functional (and should not be blocked in opt-in regions) if it falls within the following definition: The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user. Storing language preferences is in many cases needed to use a website requested by a visitor.
The cookie is correctly categorized as a functional cookie, Cookiebot treats this cookie as a preferences cookie that should be blocked until consent. I do not understand if Cookiebot is really using cookiedatabase.org.
